Basalt is a major rock type that occurs in virtually every tectonic setting. Basalt is clearly the most common volcanic rock on Earth and basaltic rocks (including gabbro, diabase and their metamorphosed equivalents) are the most common rocks in the crust 2.Basalt is also common on the Moon and other rocky planets of the Solar System.

Rare earth permanent magnets are the largest consumer of REE accounting for 39% of the production (Fig. 2) .The next largest REE consumers are catalysts (19%) and metal alloys (18%). About 12% of LREE is used for polishing, TV and computer monitors, mirrors and microchips. A total of 10% of the LREE are used in the glass industry.

The harder a mineral is, the more likely it is to be valuable. If you can scratch the mineral with your fingernail, it has a hardness of 2.5 Mohs, which is very soft. These rich ores are dominated by light rare earth elements (e.g., [2,3,4,5,6]). Reserves are estimated at more than 40 million tons of REE minerals grading at 3–5.4 wt % REE (70% of world's known REE reserves), 1 million tons of Nb 2 O 5 and 470 million tons of iron. The deposit also contains an estimated 130 million tons of fluorite [2,6].
